“Empty Space Shakespeare“ is our first collaboration with Pittsburgh Public Theater. We were invited to film artists in the empty theater reimagining what performance art can look like during the pandemic. Each artist was asked to create something new using Shakespeare‘s sonnets as source material. Our work together will be premiered online as part of Pittsburgh Public Theater’s annual Shakespeare monologue & scene contest.
Pittsburgh Public Theater’s mission is to provide artistically diverse theatrical experiences of the highest quality, while striving to serve, challenge, stimulate and entertain in a fiscally responsible manner. The Public shares its resources with the community through education and outreach initiatives including the annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest. Each year, nearly 1,000 students participate in the contest, and Pittsburgh Public Theater remains dedicated to instilling a love for the theater and appreciation for Shakespeare into the lives of young people.
